Sensor name:
Gaitwise
Description:
Gaitwise is a pressure-sensor to detect lameness in dairy cows. The sensor is a pressure-sensitive mat placed on the floor in a corridor where the cows pass once or twice a day. Daily measurements are available of the placing, timing and relative pressure of the cows' hooves on the ground. From this, several variables can be calculated for use in a detection algorithm to alert the farmer if a cow is lame.
